For over fifty years, the East Rivanna Volunteer Fire Company has been a pillar of safety and hope in our cherished community. Since our modest start in 1969, we’ve been more than just first responders—we’ve been your neighbors, your friends, and your partners in safeguarding our community. Today, we reach out to you not only as firefighters but as fellow community members seeking your continued support to protect our homes and families.
While our commitment to serving our community remains steadfast, the challenges we face are growing with each passing year. Our mission is unchanged: to protect lives and property. However, the resources required to achieve this mission have evolved, and we increasingly rely on the generosity of community members like you to help bridge the gap.
As we look toward the end of 2024 and beyond, our need for your support is more critical than ever.
1. Equipment and Technology: Firefighting technology continues to advance, and it’s vital that our equipment keeps pace to ensure the safety of both our volunteers and our community. The cost of modern firefighting gear, communication systems, and life-saving equipment continues to rise. Your donations help us acquire the tools we need to respond effectively to emergencies.
2. Recruitment and Retention: Attracting and retaining dedicated volunteers is an ongoing challenge. To provide the level of service our community deserves, we must invest in training, support, and outreach programs. Your support enables us to recruit and retain skilled firefighters who are committed to our mission.
3. Replacing Outdated Equipment: While some of our equipment has served us faithfully for decades, it is reaching the end of its operational life. Replacing outdated vehicles and machinery is essential to maintaining our response times and effectiveness. Your donations ensure that we can continue to operate with the highest level of efficiency.
